The Ecology Center

Brand Identity
Founding Designer

Between living in New York, and Paris I helped The Ecology Center get off the ground in San Juan Capistrano, CA. In 2008, a friend since 5th grade, Evan Marks also also had found himself in a gap-year and, on a whim, pitched a project to the city board to convert a former farmhouse into a center for sustainable education. Without any photos to use (nothing existed yet), we built a graphic foundation built on iconography and illustration and helped TEC give the professional polish it needed to start to attract a vibrant community. Almost 20 years later it’s expanded to include the 28-acre land that surrounded it, and is a certified permaculture farm.

The original business card set depicted a watershed, including the farmhouse.

TEC’s letterhead was self-referential, including an audit that explained exactly what it took for one piece of paper to get into your hands.
